1994—Team began with 3 divers. First call sent divers to Columbia, North Carolina. 1996 - Money received to purchase utility trailer for equipment. First of many missions with Stanley Kite, Craven County Emergency Management Director. 1997—15 missions, including assisting Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office with local gun shop murder case. 1998– 4 missions. Team purchased full face masks and underwater communication system. 1999— 21 missions. Team spent 11 days in September responding to calls related to Hurricane Floyd. Team members deployed by helicopter to Jones County, NC to recover body of DOT worker lost in the storm. For the first time, Beaufort County recognizes Sidney Dive Team with financial support. 2000—12 calls. Purchased 18 foot team boat as well as upgraded to commercial communications equipment. 2001— 15 calls. Upgraded communications to include dive supervisor headsets, also bought 5 radio pagers. Began Trident Consulting Group accreditation process. 2002— 11 calls. Team now able to completely outfit 5 divers. Called up by USCG for capsized boat off Cape Hatteras. Responded to Christmas Day plane crash on Roanoke Sound. 2003—10 calls. March - Placed donated team van in service. 2004—11 calls. February—became third team nationwide to receive Trident Consulting Groups’ accreditation. Beaufort County issued the team it’s own station identification call number, Station 86. Currently nearing 100 mission mark
